The Gallows - Horror on a budget
During the production of our horror film, we watched a couple of movies for inspiration. The gallows was one of them that gave us the idea to shoot our film in a found footage style. Though the story wasn’t in my opinion the best, the movie still gave us jump scares and reminded us of how scary the first few paranormal activities movies were. The gallows was mainly filmed in found footage with very minor use of a cinematic style. After doing more research on the film, The gallows was filmed at a very low budget for a feature film
The entire film was budgeted for around 100,000 USD. Most of the budget went into the location of the film which was mostly filmed in Fresno, California. Unlike our film which had five main characters and 4 background characters, The gallows had five main characters being the students and the entity. There were a lot of extras that were hired to fill the school and to also film the past scenes of when the event happened. The film wasn't well received though but made enough to follow a sequel.
Our film unscripted is being produced with a low budget, according to how The Gallows was produced, most of our budget went into a compelling location which helped us make our film frightening in its own setting.
